As many of you will already be aware Anne and I are in process of retiring to the Hawkes Bay. Given that I made a commitment to the Club to be Chairman for 2010 I shall continue to perform these duties to the best of my abilities, even from a far. I thank all the Committee Members for their support in this regard. My association with the Club started in 1993 coaching and managing Marist junior rugby teams for a few years, gosh 18 years (at the end of this year) seems to have flown by. There were many many highs including helping to celebrate the 1995 and 1998 Hankin Shield wins. 1995 when I was appointed the Assistant Coach Manawatu 3rd Grade schoolboy rugby team was a great year. From this coaching experience, and after helping out with various High School teams, it soon became evident that my heart was not into coaching. I then joined the Marist administration team in 2001 to help celebrate our Clubs 75th celebrations. 10 years on the admin team of Marist / Old Boys Marist rugby. 8 consecutive years as either Club Captain or Chairman, 2008 performing both roles, has taught me a lot and I am grateful of this experience. 2008 and 2009 were clearly big years with the bringing together of our two great clubs to form OBM. I owe a lot to Anne, Willie (my boss) and my family for being so tolerant during all these years.
I thank everyone for their support, and patience, it has been great being involved with such a dynamic group of people and I wish you all well for many years to come. As I say I will continue strong involvement with the Committee at least until after this club rugby season, should the Committee so desire?
2009 was quite a year for Old Boys Marist the winning of the Abraham Cup was clearly a major achievement for us all. To me this will make 2010 an even more challenging year in an effort to keep up the high standards that we have all set for ourselves. To ensure that Old Boys Marist continues to ride high in the success ranks we need you support. To all our Coaches, Managers, Committee Members etc a BIG thank you for making yourselves available in 2010, I wish you well for the season ahead.

To all our 2010 Sponsors a BIG thank you and to all others I look forward to seeing you on the sidelines and in the Clubrooms thereby showing your support of our great Club.
Should you wish to be placed on the Old Boys Marist mailing list, or know of anybody who might, please contact us at P O Box 4093 PN or at burr.family@xtra.co.nz we currently have over 250 on this database but need your help to continue to grow our membership.
Finally we wish Robin O'Neil, a life member of both Marist Rugby and Marist Tennis, all the best in Christchurch. Robin was fare welled in the clubrooms on 19th February and presented with an OBM Blazer and tie.
See you all during the forthcoming rugby season.
Regards Malcolm

A few quick quiz questions;
1. What 2009 Premier NPC team scored the most tries?
2. What NPC Premier NPC team had the most bonus points?
3. What NPC team was voted as the favourite NZ team in 2009?
Hint; they wear the same coloured Jerseys as the senior team that won the Manawatu Club Supremacy... Abrahams Cup.
